Assets, Buildings and Units

This article explains the relationship and differences between Buildings and Units, and Assets and how to use them.

Updated over a week ago

Assets

An Asset is the property or item you inspect.
This is the starting point for all inspections.

  • Assets can be standalone properties, like a warehouse, property, or retail space.

  • If needed, you can convert an Asset into a Building to create multiple units within it.

Buildings

Buildings allow you to organize multiple units within an Asset.

  • When you convert an Asset into a Building, it unlocks the ability to add individual Units within this asset.

  • This is useful for apartment complexes, office buildings, or multi-tenant properties, or HOAs.

Units

Units are individual inspectable spaces created under a Building.

  • A Unit is its own Asset, but it exists within a Building.

  • Each Unit can be inspected separately, with its own reports and inspection history.
