Checklist Controls Overview

SnapInspect allows you to have full control of your checklists by offering a range of control types.

This guide walks you through the available controls, explains what each one does, and shows you how to add them to your checklist template.

Please note:

  • When setting up your checklists each item can have any combination of 6 controls. For example: Ratings/Comments/Photos only uses up 3 of the possible 6 control slots. If you need more controls for an item, use the List control type.

Available Controls:

Add any control type by clicking on the + icon in the available control, then click on the Control Type dropdown to expand a list of the available controls.

Ratings

Rating Types available:

  1. Single Check: Select one option (e.g., Good, Poor, Clean).

  2. Multi Check: Select multiple ratings (e.g., Poor + Needs Repair).

  3. Yes/No: Tap once for β€œYes” (green), again for β€œNo” (red). App

Each rating can be color coded using the available options or use hex codes to match your marketing collateral.

How to edit the ratings:

  1. Use the pencil on the right hand side to of the rating to bring up the editor for this control.

  2. To update the rating label: Click the label name in the edit/update it.
    Each rating can be color coded using the available options, or use hex codes to match your marketing collateral. To change the rating label (ie changing "Good" to "Pass" simply update the name in the editor on the right hand side.

  3. To update the rating color on selection: Click on the color icon and choose from available options, or type in your hex code to match your marketing collateral.

Comments / Number Only

Use the Prompt Text field to choose the text/number field title that appears on the report and prefaces any text or numbers that's entered into these fields.

  • Comments: Open text input (supports text and numbers).

  • Number Only: Numeric input only.

Cost & Pricing

Allows the inspector to pull in costs from your list, like products and labor hours.

Photos

  • Attach unlimited photos directly in the app.

  • Essential for documenting damage or verifying condition.

Date/Time Calendar

  • Date/Time: Allows a calendar view input field to track Date and Time

Select

  • Add a dropdown with a list of your predefined options.

    • Single Select: Allows one choice to select.

    • Multi-Select: Allows multiple selections.

    • Choose the List Title ie "Floor Type" by inputting this into the prompt text.
      ​

    • Add Selection Items by clicking the + Add option, and typing in the Selection Items name or label.

    • Edit the Selection Items name or label by clicking on the name to update it.

    • Delete Selection Items by clicking on the Trash Can icon.

    • Reorder Selection Items by clicking on the Reordericon
      ​

    • Enabling the "More Options" checkbox will allow the inspector to add their own options to the list while running the inspection on the mobile app.

List

  • Nest multiple items under one checklist control.

  • Ideal for simplifying checklists with grouped sub-items.

    ​To add a list control: Simply select your preferred List yype from the Control Type dropdown, then add the title and questions.

    List Control Types Available:
    ​

    • Single Check (List)
      Allows the inspector to choose only one option from the list.


      ​

    • Multi Check (List)
      Allows the inspector to choose multiple options from the list.


    ​

    • Yes/No (List)
      Allows the inspector to click once for a check, or twice for a cross

    • Comments (List)
      Allows input for several text fields under one control

    • Number Only (List)
      Allows input for several number only fields under one control

Please note: SnapInspect runs offline, so if you've updated the checklist, you'll need to ask those using the mobile app to refresh before running another inspection to pull in the updates.
